Joseph Lewczak is a songwriter and guitarist located in New York City.
Joseph wrote his first song at the age of 11 on the advice of his mother who admonished, “You’ll never make money as a musician unless you write songs.” Almost 40 years later he’s finally taking that advice to heart. He is, first and foremost, a lyricist who enjoys the interplay of words, twisting meaning and painting pictures in his listeners’ minds.
Joseph’s earliest memories included a strong desire to play the guitar. Where this desire came from is a mystery since his family tended to listen to AM radio and had no musical talent whatsoever. He joined his first rock band at the age of 13 and has been playing in bands and writing music ever since.
While his dreams were always to play music for a living, Joseph took a more practical approach to life and, after four years at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ, attended New York University School of Law, where he continued to perform live shows in a number of bands throughout Greenwich Village. As an attorney, he found his “calling” practicing advertising, marketing and promotions law at the law firm Davis & Gilbert, where he is a partner in the firm.
Joseph is also the founder, co-manager and lead guitarist for the pop cover band Generator Honey, two time winners (2013 and 2014) of the Advertising Week Battle of the Ad Bands.
When he’s not writing songs or playing in bands, he can be found running or biking on the Hudson River Greenway, sailing in New York Harbor, or enjoying fine libations at the Experimental Cocktail Club on the Lower East Side.
